How To Set Your Campaign Dates

Choose strict, multiple or flexible dates, and understand how each one affects the inventory you get back.

Written by Zachary Cuva

Your dates decide which inventory can be matched to the campaign, so this step shapes everything that follows. Start by choosing how firm your dates are.

The Three Date Types

Type

Use it when

Strict Date

Your flight is fixed. Described in the planner as "Strict availability for full flight date range" — a unit only matches if it is available for the whole run.

Strict: Multiple Dates

The campaign runs in more than one separate burst. "Strict availability for multiple flight date ranges" — you add each range in turn.

Flexible Dates

You have a window rather than a fixed flight. "Any availability within the flight date range" — you give a window and a duration, and anything available inside it can match.

*Note: Flexible dates return the most inventory, because a unit only has to be free for your duration somewhere inside the window rather than on exact days. If your plan is coming back thin, this is the first setting to reconsider.

Setting Strict Or Multiple Dates

Choose your start and end dates in the date fields. For Strict: Multiple Dates, add each flight range separately.

Two rules apply to the calendar:

  • Flights usually start on a Monday and end on a Sunday, matching how out-of-home inventory is sold.

  • Your start date must be at least two weeks from today, which is the lead time media owners need to respond and get creative installed.

Setting Flexible Dates

Flexible dates ask for two things:

  1. Flight Date — the window your campaign could run inside.

  2. Duration (Weeks) — how many weeks you actually want to be live.

A four-week duration inside an eight-week window gives media owners room to offer whichever four weeks they have free.

Your Due Date

The Due Date field is the deadline for media owners to return their availability — the planner describes it as "Deadline for RFP avails to be returned."

Set it far enough ahead of your flight that you still have time to review what comes back, negotiate and book. Too tight and media owners may not respond in time.

Saving Your Dates

Dates save as you set them — there is no save button. If something is missing or invalid, the step is flagged in the list on the left and the problem is described in the panel.

Dates must be valid before you can create the campaign.
